Paithani Motifs
Nature inspired motifs, bright saturated colours weaved in gold and silk is the identity of Maharashtrian ‘Paithani’ saree. Famous for its peculiar design, Its multi-layered, bold graphic style makes ‘Paithani’ a unique and exclusive among Indian textiles. The 4 compositions focus on 4 iconic ‘Paithani’ motifs- parrot, peacock, lamp, flower and simplifying it further in absolute minimal forms. The artworks are re-imagination of Paithani design where these playful elements come together and interacts with each other in an abstract, kaleidoscopic way.
Khun - Weave
With history of more than 4000+ years, KHUN is famous in Maharashtra and Karnataka for its iconic border designs, rich colours and a distinnct look. KHUN is traditonally a hand woven fabric known for its nature inspired small motifs which creates a unique textural all-over pattern and a beautiful shine. The 4 artworks explores the KHUN design patterns and imagine it as a surface with the motifs interacting with each other. The compositions allow the patterns to seamlessly flow while retaining its complexity and originality. It also celebrates the journey of the weave and its modern transformations through the time.
